With heartfelt sympathy, we extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Anna R. Arnold, age 76, who peacefully passed away on July 13, 2025. May her spirit live on through the love she gave and the lives she touched.

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM, at Sprowl Funeral & Cremation Care, 1134 W. 30th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208.

Anna Ruth was born on January 13, 1949, in Celina, Tennessee to the late Enna Lee Hamilton Burris and Charles Herbert Burris, Sr. She was the eldest Burris sibling and affectionately known as Ann. Ann was introduced to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at an early age. She was a member of her Grandfather Edward “Papa” Hamilton’s church - Free Hill Church of Christ in Celina. She was also a member of Fall Creek Parkway Church of Christ in Indianapolis.

Ann attended Rosenwald School in Free Hill/Celina, TN and IPS School 41 for her elementary education. Setting an example for her siblings, Ann was a 1966 graduate of Crispus Attucks High School in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Ann was also a student at IUPUI.

Ann was united in marriage with the love of her life, Carl Arnold on June 14, 1975.  Together, they were blessed to celebrate their 50thwedding anniversary just last month.

Ann worked for over 40 years at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital and Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health as a unit secretary. 

Ann was known for being thoughtful, considerate, responsible, intellectual, an avid reader, and a great cook. She also loved completing crossword puzzles, shopping, fashion, and makeup. After the passing of her parents, Ann took on the responsibility of looking after her younger siblings in addition to maintaining her own household. She was a selfless and kind wife and big sister.

Ann is survived by her beloved husband, Carl Arnold, along with her stepchildren, Carl Arnold Jr., Felicia (Richard) Emerson, Michael (LaTanya) Arnold, and Steven (Krysti) Arnold. She is also survived by her siblings, Robert Donnie (Jackie) Burris, Brenda Lee, Carol Hendricks, Greg (Peter) Robinson, Jerry (Paula) Burris, Terry Burris, Deborah (Mark) Robinson-Patton, Lisa Burris, Michael (Cathy) Robinson, Charles Burris, Jr., and Elaine Chenault Jones. She is predeceased by her parents, her sisters, Kathy Lynn Reeves and Adean René Spaulding, nephew, Harold Lee III, brother/uncle, Walter Hamilton, and brothers-in-law, Harold Lee, Jr. and Michael Hendricks. Ann had an especially close relationship with her sister/cousin, Wilma Faye Bennett, niece, Lauren Reeves and special sister Lisa Strayhorn.Ann also leaves behind Aunt Margaret Elvira Hamilton and Uncle Tommy Hamilton, along with countless nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
