Arnita Davis, aged 67, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2024, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on September 7, 1957, in Brookhaven, Mississippi, she was the cherished daughter of Juanita Davis and W.C. Pittman.


Arnita's life was marked by her dedication to family and community. She graduated from, Saint Ann's High School in Saint Ann, Illinois and went on to build a fulfilling career, spending 19 years as a devoted employee at Shorewood Packing in Indianapolis. Her colleagues and friends remember her as a hardworking and compassionate individual.

Known affectionately as the "neighborhood mom," Arnita's home was a sanctuary for those in need. Her generous spirit and open heart left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. She cherished family gatherings, finding joy in the company of her children and siblings. Arnita's love for music was evident in her fondness for artists like Sade and Al Green, and she never missed a chance to dance.

Arnita had a passion for the outdoors, particularly fishing, and she possessed a remarkable green thumb, nurturing a variety of plants in her garden. Her love for nature was a testament to her nurturing spirit.

She is survived by her beloved siblings: Mae Joyce Smith (Curtis Smith), Willie Charles Ellison (Joanne Ellison), Willie Esther Shannon, Tannie Marie Roby (Leon Roby), Ora Lee Pittman, Linda Faye Sanders, Ivan Lee Davis (Sherry Davis), Charles Lester Levi, and Thomas Levi. 

She is survived by her beloved children: sons Lionell King, Stanley Chapman, and Daniel Chapman; and daughters Kennetha Cook and Marie Cook. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Lamya King, Serinity Dawson, Corbin Chapman, Jason T. Cook, Amilia Ridgnal, Amari Ridgnal, Londyn Scott, and Hezekiah Gavia. And her beloved nieces and nephews. 

Arnita Davis will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and community. Her memory will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
