“Clouds bring tears, snow and rain.  Joy, ideas, arts and pictures.  Thank God for blessings in all shapes.”

CANARY MOSLEY was born June 24th, 1944, in Woodland, Mississippi, to parents Mae Mosley and James Evans.  She departed this life May 9th 2023 in Indianapolis, IN.

Canary and her family moved from Mississippi to Chicago.  At a young age Canary and two of her siblings moved from Chicago to Louisville, Ky.  At a young age, she took on a strong belief in Jesus Christ.  She attended Highland Park Baptist Church.  She attended Central H.S. in Louisville.  She went on to attend and graduate from Kentucky State University, where she was President of the Delta Sigma Theta chapter.  She later continued her studies and received a Masters Degree from Ball State University.

A young Canary returned to Louisville and married a H.S. classmate, Charles E. Smith Sr.  The couple eventually moved to Indianapolis, and had a son(Charles Eric Smith II).  She took on a profession of teaching, which she held for almost 50 years in the IPS School system.  She enjoyed teaching and molding young individuals into promising students and adults.  She later remarried her college sweetheart, Marshall Howard.

Upon retirement, she enjoyed spending time with Marshall, family and friends.  She leaves in her memory sisters Eula Gradnigo(Pinenell), Nita Jetter(Seibert), Lavern Vinson(Willie James), and one brother Ersel Mosley.  She has three deceased brothers (Clarence Mosley, Gerald Mosley and Phillip Mosley).  She has one surviving Aunt, Lorena Ivy.  She is survived by her only son, Charles Eric Smith II, his wife Kimberly, and their four daughters Keyana McDowell(Tyree), Kashana Ruth(Prentice), Charlese Smith and Janae Smith, six great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.  She will be greatly missed, but we all have a New guardian angel in heaven!
