On February 26, 1948, a queen was born. From day one, Jacqueline Willis (Northington), affectionately known as “Jackie” was simply fabulous! She was the “light” in every room and you could not help but to be drawn in to her. Everyone wanted to be around her.
In 1966, Jackie gained another name, “Mommy”, when she gave birth to her baby girl, Tonya Rene’. Jackie was a loving and devoted mother and Tonya was the light of her life. If you saw Jackie, you also saw Tonya. Jackie enjoyed spending her days with her daughter and there was never a dull moment with the two of them. Their relationship was pure, honest, and beautiful to watch.
When Jackie became a proud grandmother to Brandon Wright, she gained yet another name: G-Ma. Brandon’s G-Ma was his best friend, his confidante, and his “day one”. This dynamic duo was a force to be reckoned with. They had a relationship like no other.
She was “Grandma Jackie” to her only other grandson, Chris Wright. They also had a special bond and they have the tattoos to prove it!
Jackie did not have a son-in-law, she had an amazing, devoted, loving, caring “son” by the name of Wendell Wright. He adored his Mama J. and treated her like the queen that she was. Their relationship was so close, she mistakenly called her daughter her “daughter-in-law” by mistake to one of her nurses…imagine how that went over!
Even though she was called by many names (Jacqueline, Jackie, Mommy, G-Ma, Grandma Jackie, Grandma, Mama J, Mama Jackie, NeNe, aunt Jackie), her heart was always the same: warm and inviting. She loved many and in turn was loved by many. She was the epitome of a person who doesn’t meet a stranger. From her beauticians, pastors, church family, doctors, and nurses; most everyone she crossed paths with became family. She had the amazing gift of NEVER sugarcoating anything, while loving on you at the same time. In fact, as a caregiver, she was still loving on her last client at Home Instead until her illness forced her to resign.
Jackie will be remembered for not only her amazing cooking skills, but her ability to draw others from ALL walks of life to be on one accord displaying true love and compassion for everyone. She LIVED, she LOVED, but most of all SHE LOVED THE LORD!
