Jeffrey Lance Allen

Jeffrey Lance Allen, the seventh of nine children, was born March 3, 1957, to James A. and Yvonne M. Allen, in Key West, Florida. Both parents preceded him in death, as well as brothers, James A. Allen Jr., Carlton Shon Allen, Kirkwood Butler Allen and Cedrick Braxton Allen. 

Jeffrey from a very young child through his late teens, attended Trinity Presbyterian Church where he served as a member of the Ushers Board, and was involved in all youth activities at the church. 

Jeffrey received his formal education through the Monroe County School District and graduated from Key West High School in 1975, where he played on the Key West High School basketball team. Upon relocating to Indianapolis, Indiana, Jeff continued his education by attending Indiana Vocational Technical College receiving   an Associate of Arts Degree in Respiratory Therapy in 1977. He furthered his post graduate studies at Nova Southeastern University, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with specific focus on cardiac care. 

Jeffrey met and married Joe Ann Hayes on July 19, 1990 and to this union they welcomed a daughter Stephanie Allen. Later in life he met and married Delicia (Jeannie) Hatchett October 6, 2005. Jeffrey shared a special relationship with his former wife, until his passing.

Jeffrey was employed at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis, In. as a Respiratory Therapist. He was also an active Nursing Student and on rotation at several Indiana hospitals while continuing his education. 

Jeffrey departed this earth on March 5, 2021 at the age of 64. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Stephanie Allen; his four sisters, Joan Allen Leggett (Frank), Sheila Allen Bridgeforth (Isaiah), Jane Lakay Allen Thrasher (Blake), and Donna Allen Moore (Ronald); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Services are Monday, March 15th from 5-7 PM at Sprowl Funeral & Cremation care.
