“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you.”— Numbers 6:24–26
John Russell Manuel, age 67, passed away on February 5, 2026. He was a devoted companion, family man, and friend whose spirit touched everyone who knew him.
John, the oldest of eight children, was born to James R. & Betty(Mitchell) Manuel on January 4th, 1959 in Terre Haute, Indiana. He graduated from North Vigo High School in 1977. He began his professional career at Anaconda, where he worked for 10 years, and later at Bemis, where he spent 20 years. He took pride in his work and the relationships he built along the way.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, younger brother, Harlan Manuel, and nephew John G. Manuel.
He was deeply passionate and lived life with intensity, never afraid to stand firmly in what he believed. He had a lifelong love for cars and took pride in working on them, talking about them, and appreciating their craftsmanship. Those who knew him will always remember his deep love for animals and he had a natural gift with children and always made them feel safe, seen, and support.
He leaves behind his five brothers Wayne Manuel(Sally), James “Gordie” Manuel, Kent Manuel, Rex Manuel, and Garlan Manuel(Lori), one sister, Carla Maul(Jonathan), his former friend Regina D’Angelo Whitehead and her two children Elaina and Anthony Whitehead, twelve nieces and nephews, many great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and countless friends who will cherish his memory.
