John "Buddah" Luther Powell Jr 06/26/1973 - 06/22/2024
John "Buddah" Powell Jr of Kirklin, IN passed away 06/22/2024 @ St. Vincent's in Indianapolis after complications from a long 9mth recovery battle due to a near fatal auto accident 9/4/2023. John was the only child of John Luther Powell Sr & Betty Powell of Montezuma. John was born and raised in Montezuma and surrounding Rockville, In area. He remained in the surrounding Rockville area most of his adult life, up to the last 10yrs. He relocated to the Lebanon area and settled in the Kirklin, IN area for the past 4 yrs with the one "who made him smile".
John was a man who saw no limits and had no fear. He had no problem telling you what he thought or exactly what was on his mind. John was the man you either liked or you didn't. He was an avid hunter and thoroughly enjoyed being in the woods with his grandfather and father. Buddah was the man who would drop everything to go lend a hand if you called no matter time or situation. John "Buddah" Powell was a selfless man. He was very cherished and valued by his family and close friends. Buddah was too humble to acknowledge his own value. If you were lucky enough he held you dear there was no limit to his loyalty to you. His close friends were just as much family as his actual family. There was no separation to that. If you were lucky enough to make that category, you also received his huge heart of gold. John is a man who was cherished all his friends and family. He simply took pride in being able to help another down on their luck. John "Buddah" Powell was truly priceless to the ones who loved him. This is a unexpected and detrimental loss to us all.
Survived by his mother, Betty Powell, Son James "JD" Powell, Daughters Heather Powell, Lindsey Oats and Erica Goranson, Aunt/2nd mother Kathy Foos, 1 grandson Zander, 1 granddaughter Aribella, Ava and Lorelai, The woman who made him smile January Abbott, 1 Bonus Daughter Luxann Abbott, Bonus Son Rusty Abbott, and 3 bonus grandchildren, several cousins, & close friends.
Preceded in death by his father John L Powell Sr and 1 daughter Jessica Powell.
