Michael Simms Hayes, 71, of Indianapolis passed away Saturday June 14th, 2025 at his home.  He was born September 19, 1953 in Indianapolis, Indiana at Marion County General Hospital to the late Winifred Charlotte Griffin Hayes and James Herbert  Hayes. 

Michael graduated from Washington High School in Indianapolis.  He retired from Eli Lilly in Indianapolis.  He was a huge sports buff and a dedicated Indiana Pacers and IU Basketball fan. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his brother Brock Pratt, nieces Dinita Wheeler, Deanna Hayes, nephews Richard, Forrest and Corbin Hayes, several great-nieces and great-nephews and a very special niece,  who was also his caretaker Qiana Hayes. 

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his sister Anita Rene Hayes of Indianapolis, brothers James Fredrick Hayes of Cleveland, Ohio, Kevin Maurice Hayes Sr. of Indianapolis and his nephew Kevin Maurice Hayes Jr. of Indianapolis. 

Services will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at 12pm, at Sprowl Funeral and Cremation Care in Indianapolis.  Visitation will be from 11am-12pm at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in the Crown Hill Cemetery in section 211 in Indianapolis.
