Recho Rowell

The staff of Sprowl Funeral and Cremation Care are compassionately serving the family of Recho Rowell, 47, Indianapolis.

Recho Rehoboth Rowell was born on March 30, 1974 in Flint, MI to James E. Puryear of Montrose, MI and Eileen Smith of Indianapolis, IN.  

Recho accepted Christ at an early age and was attending The Caring Place (Church) with his family.  Recho attended Chesaning High School (Chesaning, MI) and graduated in 1992 with honors; where he was selected Homecoming King.  Recho loved football, basketball, track and field.  Later on Recho found a love for boxing and joined Owosso Boxing club and was undefeated for many years. Recho joined the Indiana Golden Gloves Boxing and fought in numerous tournaments.  Recho had his first son in 2004, his namesake and we call him Little Recho. 

In 2007 Recho, met the love of his life Mary Rihm and they have two sons, Isaiah Immanuel Rowell and Armani Anthony Rowell.  Recho was a loving father, son, brother, uncle and friend who will truly be missed.  Recho enjoyed spending time with family.  Recho was a great barber with great cutting skills. Recho and his family started a small bracelet business and Recho taught his son's how to be young entrepreneurs.

Recho went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at the age of 47 years old. Recho was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rehoboth and Bennie Mae Puryear, and Catherine Burney.

Recho leaves in loving memory: his significant other, Mary Rihm; sons, Recho Rehoboth Rowell, Jr., Isaiah Immanuel Rowell, and Armani Anthony Rowell; parents, James E. Puryear (Montrose, MI) and Eileen Smith (Indianapolis, IN); sisters, Lisa (Michael) Hinkle; Carla Shelton (Ronald Mills); Rhonda (Harry) Turner; Rona Rowell (Joseph Powell); Shareka (Richard) Harlin; SheWonderful (John) Ward; brothers, James Puryear Jr., (Joanna Webster) and Jehosophat Puryear all of Indianapolis, IN; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends.

A visitation has been scheduled for Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 2 PM – 3 PM with the Celebration of Life to begin immediately following at 3 PM at Sprowl Funeral & Cremation Care, 1134 W 30th St., Indianapolis, IN  46208.  Please pray for all who loved him as they mourn. .
