Sprowl Funeral and Cremation Care is compassionately serving the family of Stuart M. Tyler, 61, who passed away on April 9, 2025. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The Celebration of Life will begin at 12:00 PM at Mount of Olives Seventh Day Adventist Church located at 1322 S. 13th Street, Terre Haute Indiana 47804. Stuart Melvin Tyler, 61, peacefully passed away with his daughter by his side at IU Health University Hospital on April 9, 2025. Stuart, lovingly known as “Dupey,” to close family and friends, could always put a smile on your face with a joke or his quick wit and humor.
Stuart was born on June 12, 1963, in Terre Haute, IN to his parents the late Joseph L. Tyler and Eleanor R. Allen Tyler.
In 1983, Stuart joined the U.S. Army Reserves and proudly served his country. Over the years, he worked in various jobs involving construction work, including being a Hod Carrier for a private company in Evansville, IN. Stuart later became certified in ironwork and was an Iron Worker’s Union member. Stuart also worked as a welder for George Kock Sons in Evansville, IN, and was a Foreman at Sparkle Pools for over 20 years in Terre Haute, IN.
You could find Stuart watching sports, playing cards, or barbecuing, which were some of his favorite hobbies.
Stuart’s love and care for his family was a main priority in his life. He was very loving, and supportive, and wanted the best for his loved ones.
Stuart was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Tyler and Eleanor Tyler; siblings, Jerri Lynn Allen, Joseph Tyler Jr., and Roslyn Tyler Peoples. His memory will be held dear by his daughter Micah Tyler; his siblings, Steven Tyler (Brenda), Stanford Tyler, Marvel Tyler Sibande, Ross Tyler (Angela), and Toni Tyler; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A special thank you to his caretaker, Jane, and the IU Health University Hospital Surgical ICU staff. Your expertise, care, and attention were greatly appreciated by Stuart, as well as his family.
Funeral services will take place Friday, April 18th at Mount of Olives SDA Church, 1322 S 13th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47802.
The visitation will be from 10 am-12 pm, following the funeral service from 12 pm-2 pm.
Following the service the repass will be held at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1000 S 15th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47807.
