Teresa Janal Stewart, age 57, passed away on January 5, 2026. She was a poet whose words, spirit, and authenticity left a lasting mark on everyone she encountered. Teresa had a rare gift for expressing truth and emotion through her writing, and through both her words and her life, she touched not only her family but an entire community.
She was a loving mother, devoted sister, caring aunt, and a cherished friend to many. Teresa’s presence was powerful yet welcoming, and her legacy will live on through the memories she created, the lives she influenced, and the poetry she shared with the world. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate her life on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Progressive Baptist Church, located at 4625 W 59th St, Indianapolis, IN 46254. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:00 p.m.
Teresa’s voice, her words, and her impact will continue to echo through the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
